Sex & Relationships

We aim to support children to develop knowledge, skills and attitude they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives, adapt to change and respond to challenge.

Our Aims:

  1. To learn the value of family life, stable loving relationships and the bond that is shared through marriage.
  2. To provide opportunities for pupils to develop respect for themselves and care for others.
  3. To provide pupils with a planned programme of SRE about physical development, relationships, sexuality and reproduction at appropriate stages.
  4. To explore a range of attitudes towards SRE issues and to help pupils reach their own informed views.
  5. To develop skills relevant to effective management of relationships.

Our SRE curriculum will put elements of our science curriculum into the context of emotional and social aspects of change, growing up, families and the human life cycle.

Content and Delivery:

A whole school approach is adopted to SRE and we actively encourage involvement from the whole school community.

A detailed scheme of work for PSHE and SRE has been developed and is delivered alongside the Curriculum for Religious Education and Science.

A detailed overview for each year group, from the Foundation Stage to Year 6, has been developed to support the progression of our pupils’ skills, knowledge, attitudes and values to SRE.
